Under the General Terms and Conditions for the Retail Supply of Electricity, Ambit Energy Japan determines basic charge for each plan based on either one of the following: contract current, contract capacity, or contract power.
Contract Current
Contract current means the maximum current (in amperes) that can be used by Customers based on their contract. The value is the amount that is converted to single-phase 2-wire AC at a standard voltage of 100 volts.
Customer’s contract current is set to either 5 A, 10 A, 15 A, 20 A, 30 A, 40 A, 50 A, or 60 A based on the information each Customer provides. If the contract before switching to Ambit Energy Japan is based on amperes, the contract current is set to the same amperes before switching, unless otherwise requested by Customers.
Please note that if Customers wish to increase their contract current to more than 60 A, the contract is based on contract capacity.
Contract Capacity
Contract capacity means the maximum capacity (in kilovolt-amperes) that can be used by Customers based on their contract. The value is determined from the information each Customer provides.
If the contract before switching to Ambit Energy Japan is based on main breaker capacity, the contract capacity with us is set to the same value, unless otherwise requested by Customers. If the contract before switching to Ambit Energy Japan is based on load equipment capacity, contract capacity is determined using the maximum capacity before switching to Ambit Energy Japan.
Contract Power
Contract power means the maximum power (in kilowatts) that can be used by Customers.
If the contract before switching to Ambit Energy Japan is based on main breaker capacity, the contract power with us is set to the same value, unless otherwise requested by Customers. If the contract before switching to Ambit Energy Japan is based on load equipment capacity or is a metered rate contract, the contract after switching to Ambit Energy Japan is a metered rate contract.
In metered rate contracts, contract power for the lighting plan is based on the most recent maximum amount of energy consumed. When the type of the contract is Motive Power, if the contract before switching to Ambit Energy Japan is based on load equipment capacity, the contract power for the first 12 months is determined based on the contract power before switching to Ambit Energy Japan and for the 13th and subsequent months, the maximum amount of energy consumed in the last 12 months after switching to Ambit Energy Japan is applied. In metered rate contracts, contract power is determined based on the peak demand notified by the General Electricity Transmission and Distribution Utility. If we are not notified before sending the first bill, contract power is tentatively set to 1 kilowatt, and the difference will be adjusted in the following month. If the peak demand is not updated in the following 11 months, the contract power will remain the same. On the 13th month after switching, a new contract power is determined based on the peak demand in the last 12 months.
